Good tight fit but problemsMar 03, 2008

One of the Krusell claims to fame is that the case fits the phone tightly. Yep, it does. But mine still had several problems:
1. The body of the phone engages with a clear plastic strap with a snap. The normal alignment pushes the phone too far to the right, so I added a 2 mm spacer on the snap side on the inside of the strap. Then the left-and-right alignment was not too bad.
2. The pouch that engages the antenna portion of the phone along the bottom does not stay firmly with the phone, so it's possible to have the case partially detach from the phone. I added a band of electrical tape and it mostly compensates for this problem.
3. The stitching tends to fail, as someone has noted on another Krusell review. The seam for the leather-and-plastic pocket that holds the top of the flip part of the phone failed. Another added band of electrical tape holds the phone in place but tends to deposit black adhesive on the ear!
4. Finally, the spring clip on the back of the phone is reliable and does not easily come loose. But there's a modest gap between the clip and the back of the leather case, and I accidentally left my phone at a restaurant one time when I thought my pocket had engaged the clip but it instead had slipped into the gap. No retention at all that way, so I used some polyurethane glue to hold the clip to the case.
So overall, the case does its job, but it ends up looking a bit patchwork by the time all of the design deficiencies are dealt with. It's the best case I've found for the Katana, but I'll still be looking for a better one.
