I'm a type of person who does a lot of research before buying a product. Since I got my new AT&T Samsung A707 phone about a couple of weeks ago, I've been looking for a usb data cable and a leather case. The AT&T store wanted $25 for the data cable and ear buds and $30 for the case. I decided to online research and I stumbled onto Amazon site. I read the reviews and decided to buy the cable (although some people were not happy with it). I ordered the cable and the case on 7/24/07 and they have arrived at my house on 7/26/07! I live in Rochester, NY and the products were shipped from CA. What a service!
I initially had a problem with the cable because I didn't install the driver from the Samsung's website. After installing the driver, I still had problem with downloading the pictures I saved on the phone. I had to change the setting on the menu to "PC Studio mode". The default setting was "Media Player" which you can only do music transfers. I changed the setting to "Ask on Connection".
After changing the setting, I was able to download the pictures onto my computer.
As some of the people had indicated, if the computer is not recognizing the phone, install the correct driver for you phone model from the Samsung's website. I'm very happy with the product! And it saved me $20. Hope this review helps someone.

I got this cable very fast from BargainCell, and it worked just as I expected. It came with a CD, but based on all the previous comments, I didn't even bother with it, and just downloaded Samsung's PC Studio 3 from their website. The cable fits, and the computer recognized my phone. It's all good!

According to Samsung support, this particular cable will not work with the A707 Sync. When I attempted to get customer support from Bargain Cell, this was the response:
"It is very unlikely that the cable is defective, unless there is physical damage on the data cable itself. We do not recommend return of data cable unless these is physical damage to the data cable. If you
are unable to make the data cable work, please try it on other computer,
or have a friend try it, or do research on your own regarding the data
cable. If you do return the data cable, we will
send you the another same data cable

I only have one computer, so it is difficult to try the cable on different computers. I am the only one in the family, and the only one I know who has the A707 Sync, so it is difficult to try the cable with another phone. Finally, I did some extensive research, and when I purchased a cable with the product number given by Samsung, the new cable did work. I guess the old adage is true: "you get what you paid for". I will not purchase a data cable from Bargain Cell again.

Slightly misleadeing, but usefulJul 28, 2007

The product description for this is slightly misleading - the included CD does NOT contain the drivers for the phone/cable; those must be downloaded from the Samsung website. The included CD contains only a poorly written instructional PowerPoint presentation on how to set it up once you have the drivers.
On the other hand, it's cheap, and once you get the Samsung drivers it works fine - just don't expect them to tell you how to get it working. The instructions are crap, but if you're of average intelligence you can figure out how to set it up and use it. Good value for the moderately tech-savvy.
